Making High Street Look High End*

If there's one thing I love to buy... it's clothes. I can spend hours and hours looking at the latest fashion and what I want to add to my wardrobe next. I love showing my style but I am also not one for a high price tag and clearly, it's impossible to have a whole new wardrobe every time a new season rolls around. However, I still want that stylish look every day on a realistic budget and this is how I go about it.

Spend more on your staples

Staples such as a classic pair of jeans, good quality tops, and versatile dresses can be worn in a variety of ways and with multiple different things in your wardrobe. These are the pieces you will wear the most often and reach for when in doubt of what to wear. Spending more means in theory they should last long and save you money as you wear them so often. I have a white blouse which cost me an arm and a leg but I will wear day in, day out for work or a night out I just switch up what I wear it with. The same with a classic pair of black skinny jeans and a pair of stripey trousers. Everyone's staples are different but splurge on your favourite items. Another example is a good pair of black trousers which will get you through anything from an interview to a funeral to a wedding depending on how you wear them.

Buy cheap trendy items

I absoluetly love some trends (I also hate some but that's another story...) Trends can be fun to follow and experiment with , however, we all know as much as we love them they will never stick around. So why not buy them cheaply and then if you only wear them for that season what's the big deal it was only £5! Primark is great for this and also online stores such as isawitfirst.com and Pretty Little Thing as they have great deals and sales.

Invest in a couple of luxury accessories

I don't think there has ever been a girl who at some point hasn't wanted a designer pair of shoes or a very nice handbags. They can be worn with so many different things and if your body shape changes they will remain the same and still work perfectly. As long as you pick something you have fell in love with then it will be worth the investment. You could look into pure Kashmiri shawls, designer handbags, unique fine jewellery and much more.

Buy expensive winter shoe and cheap summer ones

This is a bit of a stranger one but in the summer it's all about sandals and lightwear footwear whereas winter footwear needs to get you through the harsh weather conditions so it's best to pay a little more so they last a longer time.

Standing On My Own Two Feet*

Over the past couple of months I have had a reoccurring thought of... I would love to live in my own place. I feel like having my own place would be the first step to independence, a home that is fully mine to decorate how I want, to do whatever I want, when I want with no one else to really think about. Of course, I know it's not all sunshine and rainbows and there a lot of challenges so I have started to get as prepared as possible but I can never find anything on the internet that is relevant to what I am after in terms of the pro's and con's so I thought I'd create my own ideas before I go it alone.

Can I Afford It?

This is of course the biggest deciding factor as the jump from living at home to my own place will be drastically different in cost. You need your own source of income and earn enough to cover your rent, bills and any extras such as a car. Then there's the food which can be more expensive than you might think plus there's the toiletries and of course you have to be able to enjoy your life so need money left over for trips out. I started to work out my money and what bills are likely to be so I could see how much rent I could afford to depict what kind of properties I could afford and whether I would need a couple of house mates. Don’t choose a place that uses every spare penny you have, give yourself some room for the occasional unexpected bill or expense. Spending a little time before you move saving up and keeping a rainy day fund is always a good idea too.

Can I Look After Myself?
If it was down to me I'd eat takeaways all the while, my diet would not be at all balanced nor nutritious as my cooking ability is absolutely disgraceful however I am definitely a pro at washing, ironing and cleaning so I wasn't at a total loss! With lots of challenges along the way I will learn as I go, and probably use Google more than I should... plus my mom's always on the other end of the phone! But having the basics nailed before setting out alone made good sense so I bought myself a cookbook and have started practicing making some cheap, healthy and quick meals.

Is Now The Right Time?
A lot of my friends have started moving out and it has pushed me to think the same but it doesn't always mean you have to aswell. Its a HUGE decision so I won't be taking it lightly. Talk to family and friends - maybe even a tarot phone reading ! I don't really rely on my family a lot and so for me it doesn't seem to matter as much but if you do or don't like being on your own it's bound to make you miserable. Don’t rush it, wait until it feels right for you.

Have you considered moving out of your parents? What are the pros and cons?

Current Make- up Favourites

It's definitely been a while since I reached for my make - up to take photos of it for my blog but I just felt like going back to the roots of this blog and sharing my current favourites. To be honest, I fell out of love with makeup, I still wear it 95% of the days but I haven't really tested out anything new. These, however, have stuck with me over the past months and seem to be the only products I ever reach for.
Too Faced Eyeshadow Palette - Natural Matte
I remember this palette was so popular in about 2012 with every Blogger, YouTuber and their mothers using this but I never thought to pick it up as I always included a shimmer shade on my lid and therefore always picked up a palette that could create a whole look. Now I have gone in the complete opposite direction and rarely wear a shimmer so this is the perfect everyday palette. Plus if I do fancy a shimmer I just use this to deepen the crease.

Urban Decay Beach Bronzer - Bronzed
This is my most recent makeup discovery, but as soon as I used it for the first time I was in love. It is one of those shades I think would suit virtually everyone and blends effortlessly. As you can tell it's been very well loved and I have already bought another one! I do need a new better bronzer brush so please leave recommendations in the comments.
L'Oreal Paradise Waterproof Mascara
For the summer I always rely on L'Oreal's waterproof formulas so when I saw there was this new one sitting on the shelf I grabbed it without hesitation. Claiming volume and length. What more could a girl want? It lives up to those claims and I love it! It's a little bit clumpy so if you're not a fan of that then this might not be for you but the volume and length are unreal. Plus the waterproof formula is even better than I have ever experienced before as I actually got my face soaking wet and it was still perfectly in place (it comes off super easy when I take my makeup off though)!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade - Soft Brown
I have used this for about a year now, every single day. I love it so much I haven't even bothered to try anything on my brows since as I love it. A pot lasts about a year as I have just started my second so is definitely worth the price. The first time I used it was a disaster as I didn't know how much to use but I quickly got used to it and is great to get any size or shape brow.

Rimmel Lip Liner - Eastend Snob
Back when I did weekly makeup posts I think I raved about this lip liner. I was and still am obsessed with this low cost super long wearing lip colour. All I ever seem to wear on my lips is a pinky nude so this matched all my go-to lipsticks. Its longevity is amazing too. I couldn't complain about anythign to do with this product and that's saying something!

What are your current makeup favourites?

Summer Days

I can't remember the last time it rained in the UK and I am so glad as the sun is the one thing that improves my mood - I just love to be out and about and able to enjoy myself. Everything just seems much better. But, as I am definitely not used to experiencing this amazing weather, my wardrobe was seriously unprepared so I had nothing to wear. However, every cloud has a silver lining and it meant I could go shopping! So I hit the shops and also online to find some lovely clothes.
Last Sunday I had an afternoon off work so treated my mom to a lovely roast dinner followed by a walk down the river about ten minutes from where I live with an amazing ice cream and the sun beating down on us.

The beautiful floral dress is from Pretty Little Thing at the affordable price of £22. The dress has buttons down the front which is a super cute detail and then the top half ties across the chest. The material is also so lightweight for the time of year. I paired this with some brown gladiator sandals and then kept the accessories very minimal with a small silver necklace which I received on my 18th birthday.

July Goals

June has been one of the best months of the year so far, it has been incredibly busy, I have done some really amazing things and to top it off the weather has been gorgeous! The month started off with a busy week of work followed by my birthday where I visited Stratford Upon Avon, then more work and I also got to spend time with a lot of great friends. However, due to being super busy my June goals went straight out of the window!

1. Organise my time

I have started to do this a lot better and I can definitely see it has reduced my stress levels in turn as I have set aside time to see friends etc. However, I still haven't got a happy balance as I have been working until midnight and then getting up extremely early for work the next day meaning time to relax has still been very limited. I'm determined to set aside time for different things such as my job, socializing and then treat blogging as a job so I am more strict on myself to get posts out on time (shown by this post going out a day late! Sorry!) and schedule it into my day.

2. Spend time with my favourite people

I have a couple of free days in July and I am going to make the most of them and see people I haven't in ages or then people closest to me who I don't see as often as I'd like. I want to treat them and go out to actually enjoy myself.

3. Don't get so caught up on things

One thing I'm brilliant at is... overthinking. If it was an Olympic sport I would get a gold medal! But... seriously, it's not good, I spend so many hours wasting my time worrying about the smallest little thing that doesn't even matter. I need to start living more in the moment, finding instant solutions and speaking out if there is a problem.

4. Actually, restart YouTube

I have said 'actually' as it has become a bit of a joke that every month I promise to start filming again and then just don't. Maybe July is finally the month?

What are your July Goals?
